Project Overview:

For my Senior Design Seminar, I created a sculptural jacket built from broken plates and glass as a critique of fast fashion’s environmental and social impact. The piece pushes back against disposability by transforming discarded materials into something wearable yet provocative, sparking conversation on sustainability and the costs of mass consumption.

Process:

  1. Research & Inspiration — Studied the language and visual strategies of PETA campaigns; investigated fast fashion’s environmental and social consequences.
  2. Material Experimentation — Collected discarded materials and tested ways to bond them, using plastic as an adhesive through rounds of trial and error.
  3. Visual Communication — Designed and risograph-printed posters in a retro PETA-inspired style to frame the project’s message.
  4. Exhibition Setup — Built a sculptural display that combined the jacket and posters into an immersive installation.
