My role as a Design Producer combined project management, designing, and hands-on production to bring brand experiences and in-app features to life.

I contributed to three main projects: designing a large-scale experiential marketing event, producing a new in-app animation, and helping launch a new feature with supporting ads and UX updates.

Project 1:  Experiential Event & Branding

My primary project was a 3-day-long experiential event: The Streak Society Pop-up. I coordinated much of the logistics and collaborated with a cross-disciplinary team of creatives and engineers.

My key contributions: 

Creative Development

We defined the emotions, energy, and overall tone of the pop-up—landing on a playful, friendly direction aligned with Duolingo’s character-driven brand.

Production

Project Management & Team Alignment:

  • Led weekly cross-functional check-ins.
  • Built detailed trackers for fabrication, deadlines, and dependencies.

Event Flow & Experience:

  • Co-designed full spatial flow for an intuitive, exciting visitor journey.
  • Planned back-of-house logistics for smooth staff operations.

Fabrication & Vendor Relations:

  • Secured external partners (claw machine vendor, Ideko fabrication studio).
  • Oversaw fabrication of photo booth, claw machine wrap, and signage.
  • Developed color palette using Duolingo Green + Streak Orange.

Technical Development

  • Managed & onboarded a contract software engineer.
  • Coordinated integration between hardware, software, and physical builds.
  • Delivered the interactive digital Streak Board—one of the event’s main engagement features.

Branding & Merchandise

  • Collaborated with Duolingo Brand Design to concept and select merch, staff uniforms, and visitor souvenirs.
  • Ensured all items matched the playful brand identity and event direction.

Procurement

  • Sourced & ordered all non-fabricated elements (furniture, décor) within budget.
  • Managed vendors, deliveries, and onsite logistics.
  • Resolved last-minute supply issues by securing alternative items same-day.

Onsite Set-Up

  • Co-led installation with Senior Creative Producer.

Coordinated six+ vendors to complete full venue build-out on time.

Project 2: UX & Feature Launch (Video Call with Lily + DET)

  • Assisted in updating the UI for the Duolingo English Test, ensuring the design refresh aligned with brand identity and user experience goals.

My Key Contributions:
  • Helped refine the concept from 30s → 10s, aligning narrative and visuals with marketing and product insights.
  • Coordinated with copywriting and localization to ensure clarity across languages.
  • Worked with sound design and managed music licensing needs.
  • Contributed to storyboarding and visual iteration.
  • Managed communication across illustrators, animators, sound designers, marketers, product designers, and engineers.

Project 3: Animation Production

  • Project managed a 10-week cross-functional animation initiative, aligning designers, illustrators, and engineers.
  • Oversaw production schedules and resource allocation, resulting in a new animation implemented directly into the app.

Key Outcomes

  • Strengthened skills in experiential design by co-creating a large-scale branded environment and interactive installation.
  • Gained hands-on experience in UX design and product launches, contributing to both app features and external campaigns.
  • Developed strong project management and cross-functional collaboration abilities, guiding creative projects from concept to execution.
  • Learned to adapt quickly as a “floater,” working across teams and disciplines to support Duolingo’s fast-moving creative studio.
